Arthur E. Bryson

Arthur E. Bryson Jr. is the Paul Pigott Professor of Engineering Emeritus at Stanford University. Known as the father of modern optimal control theory, he has made significant contributions to the fields of aeronautics and astronautics. Alongside Henry J. Kelley, he pioneered an early version of the backpropagation procedure, a foundational method currently utilized in machine learning and artificial neural networks.
