Behrouz Boochani

Behrouz Boochani is a Kurdish-Iranian journalist, writer, and film producer based in New Zealand. He gained international attention while held in the Australian-run Manus Island detention centre between 2013 and 2019. Following his relocation to Christchurch, he was granted refugee status in 2020 and currently serves as a Senior Adjunct Research Fellow at the University of Canterbury, focusing on human rights and journalism.
