Benjamin Cummings Truman

Benjamin Cummings Truman (1835–1916) was an American journalist and author who gained prominence as a war correspondent during the American Civil War. His diverse career included roles as a playwright, dramatic critic, and confidential secretary to President Andrew Johnson. A noted polymath and traveler, Truman also served as a special agent for the Treasury and Post Office departments while authoring works on dueling and regional history.
