Benjamin Nicholas Lawrance

Benjamin N. Lawrance is a legal historian specializing in nineteenth- and twentieth-century Africa, with a focus on West Africa. His research interests include comparative slavery, human rights, citizenship, and the law of asylum and refugees. Currently a professor of African history at the University of Arizona, he previously held the Barber B. Conable, Jr. Endowed Chair at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
