Carl Djerassi

Carl Djerassi was a Viennese-born Bulgarian-American pharmaceutical chemist and writer. Widely recognized for his contributions to the development of oral contraceptive pills, he was also a prolific novelist and playwright. Beyond his scientific career, he served as a university teacher and co-founded the Djerassi Resident Artists Program to support the creative community.
