David Huddle

David Ross Huddle (1942–2025) was an American writer and professor who taught creative fiction, poetry, and autobiography at the University of Vermont and the Bread Loaf School of English. His work appeared in publications including The New Yorker and Harper's Magazine, and he was a two-time recipient of National Endowment for the Arts fellowships. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Huddle was born in Virginia and often identified as an Appalachian writer.
