Dominique
Dominique Vivant, Baron Denon (1747–1825) was a French diplomat, artist, writer, and archaeologist. Serving under Louis XV and Louis XVI, he later became the first director of the Louvre under Napoleon. His 1802 publication, Voyage dans la basse et la haute Egypte, remains a foundational text for modern Egyptology. Today, his legacy is preserved through the Denon Wing of the Louvre and the Dominique-Vivant Denon Research Center.
