Georg Eberhard Rumpf

Georg Eberhard Rumpf was a German-born botanist who served the Dutch East India Company in eastern Indonesia. He is best known for his comprehensive work, Herbarium Amboinense. His research and writing were completed despite significant personal hardships, including the loss of his family in an earthquake, the destruction of his manuscripts by fire, and his own progressive blindness.
