Hepplewhite

George Hepplewhite was an 18th-century British cabinetmaker recognized as one of the three most influential English furniture designers of his era. While no furniture pieces attributed directly to his firm survive, his name defines a distinctive style of light, elegant design popular between 1775 and 1800. His work is noted for the iconic shield-shaped chair back, which replaced traditional narrow splat designs.
