Horace Pippin

Horace Pippin (1888–1946) was an American painter known for his work across themes including World War I, landscapes, portraits, and biblical subjects. His portfolio notably addressed the history of slavery and racial segregation in the United States. Pippin was the first Black artist to be the subject of a monograph and was recognized by The New York Times as a significant figure in American art history.
