John James Audubon

John James Audubon was a French-American artist, naturalist, and ornithologist known for his extensive studies of North American bird species. He documented his research through detailed illustrations published in the large-format color-plate book The Birds of America and the accompanying text Ornithological Biography. His work combined his interests in painting and science to create a comprehensive pictorial record of avian life.
