John Rechy

John Francisco Rechy is a Mexican-American novelist and essayist known for his exploration of gay culture and the Chicano experience. His debut novel, City of Night, became a bestseller in 1963. Throughout his career, Rechy balanced his literary output with a teaching position at UCLA, drawing on his personal history to inform his contributions to American literature.
