John Singer Sargent

John Singer Sargent (1856–1925) was an American expatriate artist widely recognized as the leading portrait painter of his generation. His extensive body of work includes approximately 900 oil paintings and over 2,000 watercolors. His diverse oeuvre documents his worldwide travels, capturing subjects ranging from Belle Époque luxury to landscapes in Europe, the Middle East, and North America.
