Joseph Calder Miller

Joseph Calder Miller (1939–2019) was an American historian and academic who served as the T. Cary Johnson Jr. professor of history at the University of Virginia from 1972 to 2014. A fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, he wrote extensively on the history of Africa, the Atlantic slave trade, and world history. His research focused on topics including Angola, women and slavery, and child slavery.
