Matthew Arnold

Matthew Arnold was an English poet and cultural critic known for his work as a sage writer who addressed contemporary social issues. Beyond his literary contributions, he served as an inspector of schools for thirty-five years and was a prominent advocate for state-regulated secondary education. He was the son of Thomas Arnold, the headmaster of Rugby School, and belonged to a family of notable academics and writers.
