Pearl Cleage

Pearl Cleage is an American novelist, playwright, essayist, and poet born in 1948. Her writing explores the intersection of racism and sexism, focusing on her identity as an African-American woman. She currently serves as the Playwright in Residence at the Alliance Theatre and the Just Us Theater Company, and her 1997 novel What Looks Like Crazy on an Ordinary Day was selected for the Oprah Book Club.
