Stefan Helmreich

Stefan Helmreich is a professor of cultural anthropology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, specializing in the study of scientists and oceanographers. He earned his Ph.D. from Stanford University and has authored works including Silicon Second Nature, Alien Ocean, and Sounding the Limits of Life. A recipient of the Guggenheim Fellowship and a Radcliffe Fellow, he also released an experimental music album titled Xerophonics in 2003.
