William G. Bowen

William Gordon Bowen was an American economist and academic administrator who served as president of Princeton University from 1972 to 1988. He later led The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation as president from 1988 until 2006. In addition to his work in labor economics and higher education, Bowen is recognized for founding the digital library JSTOR.
