William Strunk

William Strunk Jr. (1869–1946) was an American professor of English at Cornell University. He is best known as the author of The Elements of Style, first published in 1918. The work later gained widespread influence after being revised and extended by his former student, E. B. White, becoming a standard guide to writing in the English language.
